People sometimes ask what qualifies me as a writer. Well, I’ve spent years crafting sprawling works of fiction in the form of project updates, tech summaries, and other pieces of corporate literature. I’ve published thousands of pages of creative mythology across GitHub, Slack, and other corporate libraries. I’ve built worlds more immersive than Tolkien’s and narratives more absurd than Beckett’s, all while being paid more for these fantasies than your average author.
Unfortunately, these have been hidden behind corporate paywalls that would require your soul in order to read, and worst of all, I own none of this work. However, now that I’ve put the corporate world behind me, I’m free to write for myself again and share whatever I choose.
“But why write when AI appears to be taking over all creative pursuits?”
It’s simple. I enjoy writing. It’s a wonderfully creative outlet that costs nothing and brings tremendous joy and satisfaction. I also feel compelled to fight against the tide of AI horrors in my own small way. Every word I write is a rebellious action, and if nothing else, it makes me feel slightly better about continued existence on this planet.
It is important to note that I’m not anti-AI, but I am extremely anti-AI misuse; the environmental, social, and economic impacts that AI has on our world are issues I will fight any day of the week. But more on that another time.
To summarise: I am a writer, I enjoy writing, and I am going to share my writing.
If you’re following along, I hope you enjoy.
